Leg three of the journey...coming up!

Hello all,
It has been a long time since I have visited this site to check in with everybody. I have been a busy girl. Montana has been the place I have been looking for God since July 2007. What a journey! I feel like God is calling me back home to Texas and out on the road again this summer. I know Donna Renee has been jonesin' for the road since we left it last and Jones/Singleton keeps calling to ask when we are heading out. I think my CRV ship will be road surfing toward big D the middle of May. I need to finish up well here and get my chaplain replacement sufficiently trained. I also need to spend some real quality time with my friends here that have come to mean so much to me. We need to cement some things.

I love Montana. I have a broken heart for Missoula. I want so much for this place and for the people who call Zootown home. It has been my rite of passage. In it I have grown up, out, and deep down. Here I have come to learn how important my family is by watching how people in Montana do family. I have learned the importance of my roots having watched people take root and call this place home. I have learned about boundaries, personal space and freedom here, having done life with people who function from these points of reference. I have learned about who God is in a place where most do not speak of Him, where 90% of the people are "unchurched", claiming spirituality, while violently opposed to the confines of western religion.

I have learned things about God and myself that would not have been offered in my Bible belt classroom. I have learned how much of my "relationship" with God has been externally defined and driven. I did not know how dependent I was on others to create "God" experiences for me until I came to this blank canvas. I thought there was something wrong with these people. Then I realized that there was something wrong with me. God took this empty, quiet space and offered me a bowel sabbatical with Him. I have not come out of that place, nor do I want to. I want to move from it, with it as my core.

I just wanted to give you a heads up on what is going on with the traveler who headed North. I am having a Looking for God in America yard sale this weekend to sell the stuff that landed in this community house seven months ago and take the opportunity to gather a few loaves and fishes to hand the Lord for the next phase of the journey (hey East Coast). This is also a great chance to inform my community about this project. I will be advertising on Craig's List.

If you want to read more about what is in my heart and head, I have a new blog: nomadtakesroot.blogspot.com

Love and Light,
Princess Angela
