Tourist Treks, Traps, and Towns of South Dakota
Hello all,
Here is a glimpse of the main attraction found in Sioux Falls. We visited there Sunday night at sunset and went back with the video camera on Monday on our way out of town and caught a grand interview with a local named Austin.
As we headed West to our next lodging site, we encountered a major tourist trap in Mitchell. Yes folks, we stopped by the Corn Palace.
The girls declined the rare opportunity to explore the whole extravaganza, but being a sucker for cheese, or corn in this case, I made my way inside. All that I found were pictures from the previous years of corn palace decorating, plastic corn markers on the floor showing you where to go next, and finally, the grand finale, a gymnasium with an outrageous gift shop covering the entire floor, and on the walls, several murals fashioned out of corn stalks.
We made our way to the far west of the state and landed for the night in Spearfish. This morning we got up and headed to a longed for destination by all on our journey, Mt. Rushmore. Yes, we finally made it!
We journeyed down the winding roads to the Crazy Horse Memorial just a few miles away from Mt. Rushmore. It was at the top of Donna Renee's sightseeing list. If you don't know the back story, I would suggest you read up on it. Fascinating stuff.
Another famous sculpture was there, "The Fighting Stallions"
We decided that we would take the scenic route back to our hotel and stop for dinner in the famous wild, wild west gold mining and gambling town of Deadwood. It was a gambler's paradise with a casino in practically every store front along Main St.
So that was our big adventure in South Dakota. We are tipping our hats to the black hills tomorrow morning, heading to North Dakota for a bite of lunch, and stopping for a while in another anticipated destination, the great state of Montana. We are praying for divine appointments, barn dances, and horseback rides. We'll let you know what we find as the road warriors travel north.
Sweet dreams,
Princess Angela

Well, not sure if it was a "grand" interview, i'm just a crumb living here in Sioux Falls that happened to catch quite the divine appointment that day! I'm still praying for you & Chris, may God continue to bless you on your journey, and may you grow closer to Him as well as you "look for God in America" you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart (Jer. 29:11-13, like no one's heard of those verses before!).
God bless always!
